First Avenue is one of the best clubs in the city. It's been downtown forever and is famous for its cheap entry, big name acts, and large open rooms. New recent additions of plasmas haven't changed the main theme: a dark and urban-industrial club.
Dance nights always feature local DJ talent and usually have lots of people dancing. Most people are pretty nice and talkative; you could say it's an alternative laid-back crowd, but mostly variable dependent on who's on the stage.They have a huge dance floor and everyone feels welcome dancing here, no matter how good you are. The bouncers are burly punk rockers, so don't get in a tangle. The best part is they are notoriously hard on fake I.d.'s so you don't see too many underagers here (unless of course, it's an all ages or 18+ concert). First Avenue has a pretty extensive beer list and $7 Newcastle bombers. As far as a downtown club goes, its on the less expensive side.
